I am curious to know if you ever got this working, I am currently looking at the FX2s system to use with Server 2016 Storage Spaces Direct, but i have concerns over whether the FC430 can access and use the PCI slots to use PCI NVMe for tiered storage, and the drives in the FD332 for capacity tier. Would be good to know if someone has this working, information seems to be lacking on this configuration
I wondered if you ever got S2D working with the FX2 solution? I am looking at getting this with FC430 compute and FD332 for storage (4 x FC and 2 x FD) but i have concerns over whether the FC will recognise PCI NVMe in the PCI slots from the FX chassis. There's not much info out there on configurations for this, would be interested to know how you got on with it.
I was able to install s2d on FX2, However the bustype is still being reported as RAID instead of SATA/SCSI/SAS. tier sets are not possible. basically it is not yet fully supported on s2d.
Thanks for such a prompt response, you're faster than Dell and they want my money!:emotion-1:
hmm the annoying thing about this is a product specialist at Dell assures me it is certified now for Windows Server 2016 with regards to the FD332, yet it is not listed in the Server certified catalog program. With regards to the bus type, i have read that you can get two different types of cards, the RAID controller or the pass through HBA. What type are you using?
Also, do you have FC430 nodes in the FX and are they able to connect to PCI NVMe SSD in the rear slots, the diagrams i have seen show they can connect to them but i have been informed that PCI NVMe is not an option with the FC430, i think there is misunderstanding though on Dells part of what PCI i'm trying to connect to and utilise, i.e the slots in the FX not in the compute.
Since you posted in January, what has been your alternative use for the hardware/solution, how are you getting round the current lack of support for S2D?
