Help to Find Dell Part Numbers

I really struggle to find the correct part numbers for Dell servers, i often have clients asking for replacement memory, hard drives etc for dell servers and i spend around 40-60 mins searching Google/Dell for the correct part numbers.

HP is a piece of cake - simply type the server model number in Google followed by quick specs (e.g. 'Ml350 G8 quick specs') and the technical specification file is downloadable which contains all the part numbers for that particular server - as shown in this image

However how can i do the same for Dell as the technical manuals only specify that the server is compatible with 16GB of memory but doesn't contain the part numbers for the memory.

When i call one of my suppliers they refer to build sheets and find the part numbers within 30 seconds :emotion-8:

"When i call one of my suppliers they refer to build sheets and find the part numbers within 30 seconds"

That would be too easy and efficient.

Unfortunately this supplier is very expensive compared to other suppliers so i cant call them for every part request i get and then buy with someone else   - they have the data so it must be available

HP cant be the only ones who make their parts easy to find?

Well  if there were easily accessible parts lists, less employees  would be needed, and the parts costs could be reduced. :emotion-1:

Hello martinmacca

Back to the question - how do i find the part numbers for dell servers parts?

There are several methods to get access to parts lists, like being a reseller or having a Dell Online Self Dispatch contract. I am not aware of any part list we publish to the public. I would suggest that you get in touch with your sales team and ask them if there is a way to get access to parts lists on your premier account. If you don't have a sales team or a premier account then I would suggest contacting sales to ask them how to get them.

Thanks

As you mentioned HP has a great software called HPE product Bulletin, that can be downloaded with great reference for part#'s.

I hope dell will develop such a great tools. If any available please let us know.

HB

I am new to Dell Servers.

I am also finding it hard to search or look for Dell Servers Part Number.

I have searched and the Part Number on those refurnished vendors cannot be found on Dell site, when I search for it.

Really hope that Dell can publish an list of Part Numbers for all Dell Servers.

Thank you.

Best Regards,

Hello,
There isn't one on its own as the list will change at least daily. If you want to buy a part later, you can check the service tag of the server with the parts and accessories option after entering the support page. If you want to see the part codes in an existing server, you can see a list of the current server with View system configuration on the same support page. Or you can get a suitable part recommendation for the solution you are looking for by contacting the Dell sales representative (or distributor via https://dell.to/2LR7K9n )

Let us know if this helps!

With all due respect, the above is not true.

I acquired a PE T340 through Dell. And recently I considered getting 2 replacement power cords. I wanted something less than 10 feet and for heavens sake other than black.

Looking at the system configuration BOM was no help. 450-ALVV was not found anywhere on the web site. A part number 0R215 also yielded no fruit. The details on the original plastic package for the power cords also was of no help.

And looking at the list of accessory parts did not show any power cords of any kind.

Searching the Dell site using the electrical descriptors, C13, NEMA 5-15, 125 V, 15 A, gave me a small hit list. I found A7234606 as a possible replacement part -- 8 feet, black. The item listing also included a reference to the original manufacturer and part number: 29928: https://www.cablestogo.com/product/25545/6ft-16-awg-universal-power-cord-nema-5-15p-to-iec320c13-taa-compliant . That appears to be the same part (but still black, oh well).

Searching the internet finally yielded a few sources for replacement cables of the desired length and with options for colors other than black.

In the end, it's not that big of a deal. But the amount of time spent trying to get a simple answer to 'can I swap out the existing power cables for something shorter and a different color' took way to long.
