IDE Drives SC420
Hello all,
I need to put 2 extra ide drives into a sc420, and was dissapointed to find that it didn't have a secondary ide connector on the mother board. This is not a great problem as I had a spare pci ide controller card. The problem is is that bios stops and says "press f1 to continue or f2 to run setup" If we press f1 then all is well, linux boots and the drives are accessable, so the ide card works.
I ran dell support to see if there was a way of either getting ide support or getting the bios to skip errors during boot. Only to be told that ide was obsolete and that the ide card wasn't supported, this was pretty disapointing as it didn't say IDE drives not supported on the web site when we bought the server.
If any one has found a way of either getting ide drive support, or getting bios to skip errors I would be very interested. I have tried all possible combinations as I am in sweden, and the server is in australia.
