iDRAC Web Interface Stopped Working

The front LED was flashing yellow. The server was operating normally.

Looking at he iDRAC web page it shows a critical error - Watchdog has expired. iDRAC web page stopped working. I was able to use the racadm command to reset the iDRAC. The yellow light stopped flashing. A few minutes later it started flashing again and the web interface was not working. The cli shows the following status:

Watchdog Information:

Recovery Action         = None

Present countdown value = 0 seconds

Initial countdown value = 480 seconds

So the watchdog is counting down to zero and the iDRAC web interface is not working.  Any suggestions?

As quickly as the problem left, it is back. This morning I cannot access the web page for iDRAC.

Crewze,

Would you confirm the LOM you are using, as LOM 2 is what is showing a link being detected on?

Server is running Ubuntu 20,04 Server. Is it possible a server reboot could fix this?

Webpage came up. It showed a critical error for watchdog. I reset using

racadm racreset hard

The iDRAC came back up. I connected to webpage fine and all looked normal. After a couple of minutes all the data disappeared on the page. I tried to refresh and now it will not connect again.

So as of right now all looks like the last entry for config. No watchdog error on server. Cannot connect to webpage of iDRAC. Can get info fine using racadm.  Can ping 192.168.0.120 fine. curl fails to connect for port 80 and 443.

Upgraded BIOS and did a flea power drain. Still no web page.

Hello Crewze,

A flea power drain could help. I also recommend update BIOS to 2.9.1.

Update BIOS first, it will require a reboot, check results.

Try a flea power drain if it happens again.

*drain flea power (shut down, disconnect power cables and Network cables, hold in power button 20 seconds with cords removed).  After flea power drain, system has to set for 3 minutes for DRAC to reset without any power plugged in, then plug in NIC and power but wait 2 minutes before power on to give DRAC time to initialize.

Please note I removed the service tag as that is your private information.

Hello Crewze,

For test do the steps you did when you stated: " Webpage came up. It showed a critical error for watchdog". …

Then Power up and press to enter LifeCycle controller and let it sit there, don't boot to OS.

Try log into the iDRAC GUI.

I see iDRAC 6.00.00.00, 24 Jun 2022,  just released. Can you apply it and check results?

Running "ifconfig" on Ubuntu gives me this. Is it not strange the IP address of Dirac is 169.254.0.2. If I browse to that address I get one of my websites.

I upgraded to the new iDRAC version. When I first tried to get the webpage it came up fine. A few minutes later, info started to disappear on the page. When I refreshed the browser, it could no longer connect.

I will try your other suggestion later.

Crewze,

Will you confirm if you are using any OpenManage tools, I ask as the watchdog timer error is generally seen when you are using an older version of OpenManage, so if you're using, you may try updating. After that you may want to also consider calling in, so that support can actually connect to the system to test.

I meant that if you are using an OpenManage tool, then to uninstall and install using the latest supported version of the tool, I wasn't referring to updating the iDrac. Sorry for the confusion.

Whoops, my bad. I will look into that.

I called Dell as suggested. They wanted $1000 for phone support. The server did not even cost that much when I bought it new!
