iDRAC6 lock down

I have a iDRAC6 with version 1.2 which has iDRAC Lan option as off, this version of IDRAC firmware has a bug which causes a communication error with IDRAC during POST when iDRAC Lan is off.

I am capable of accessing iDRAC during boot via ctrl+e ONCE each time I unplug the server and drain any remaining power by holding the power button for 30 seconds. After the first access via ctrl+e I will receive a iDRAC communications error again.

When I do gain access to the iDRAC non of my option changes take effect. If I try to do a factory reset for the iDRAC settings I see a an error that keeps says please try again later. If I try to change the bugged option iDRAC Lan to on, it simply does not take effect. 

What I would like to do at this time is somehow get iDRAC functional enough so that I can turn it on over LAN, set static IP and update the iDRAC firmware over its web interface.

I would boot to one of those live CDs and flash the iDRAC firmware. After you flash the iDRAC firmware then flash the LifeCycle Controller firmware. If you are unable to update the iDRAC or LCC then update the system BIOS and try again.

The iDRAC firmware or medium the firmware is stored on appears to be faulty/corrupted. If you are unable to flash the firmware then the system board will likely need to be replaced. The iDRAC express module is a rectangular plastic object attached to the system board. We do not stock that part by itself, but someone may sell it as a stand-alone part. If you replace that part it may fix the problem. A replacement system board should include that part unless explicitly stated by the seller.
