IPMItool not reporting Power Supply redundancy R540
I have a brand new Dell R540 and I have just enabled IPMI over lan.
The server has two PSUs and iDRAC version 5.10.30.00.
When I run the command:
ipmitool -H [idrac-ip] -U [username] -P [Password] -I lanplus sdr type 'Power Supply'
I get the following response;
PS Redundancy ¦ 77h ¦ ns ¦ 7.1 ¦ Disabled
Against older R510 servers the same command responds;
PS Redundancy ¦ 77h ¦ ok ¦ 7.1 ¦ Fully Redundant
Is this a known issue? I found some similar report for 11g servers, is this true of 14G servers too?
How should I check for PSU redundancy using IPMI if I am doing it incorrectly?
Thanks,
Rob

Can you check whether PSU redundancy is enabled on the server? You can login to iDRAC and check the same under "Configuration -> Power Management" page ('Redundancy Policy' setting).

Thanks for that, is that a new setting in iDRAC9? That the PSUs are set to Hotspare over A/B Grid redundant?
IPMI Checks working perfectly now thanks.
