Memory configuration on Power Edge R 810
Hello,
I have 2 PE R810 server with 2 CPUs in each server with FlexMem bridge installed, we'll be using the servers VMWare install. I have (32 X 8GB) & ( 16X 4GB) a total of 320 GB or RAM, I would like to install the RAM equally between the 2 servers. (160 GB on each server) I'm sure I'll be installing 16X 8GB & 8X4GB on each server. For best performance can anyone please tell what slots do I install the memory in A1, A2 B1 B2 and so on.

Quick question, do you have the Flexmem Bridge installed?

CMC,
With the memory you have there isn't a way to evenly split the dimms across both servers. You can go with 16 8gb and 16 4gb dimms, but not the 16 and 8. The reason being is that the memory channels on the R810 must match. So if we did 16 and 8 you would have one channel with 2 8gb dimms in it and then the next channel would be an 8gb and a 4gb, so it wouldn't match and would cause a memory configuration error.
If you go to 16/16 you would need the 4gb dimms in slot 5,6,7 and 8 on A, B, C, and D.
