Moving Raid Drives to newer Server ?
Hello,
Out Poweredge T300 has finally died. Is it possible to pull the 4 raid drives from the T300 and put them into a newer server and at least be able to recover the data from them ? Thank you for your help.

Maybe. Which RAID controller were they connected to?

Hello,
Most likely not. The way the controllers have structured the metadata has changed since the release of the T300. In addition to that, I'm not confident that those old drives would properly communicate with the newer controller. If the controller is a software controller, you MIGHT have a better chance of success, but I'd be more inclined to recommend using a data recovery service.

I'll just point out that "data recovery services" (if recovery is your goal) will be WAY more expensive than buying a used server with a compatible (or the same) controller. If using the PERC 6/I, it will likely pull in the configuration on an H700 or H710 just fine. Use a PERC 6 to be sure of compatibility, which is supported on the 9, 10, and 11G servers.
