Multiple iDRAC cards in one server?
I have an R320 that the iDRAC bricked itself when going thru each update from 2014 one by one.
Nothing listening on the IP, ipmitools can't talk to it.. Can't find a way to force a reflash so going to give up on it, I guess.
Everything else on the box works - except without iDRAC going the fans are at warp speed and too loud..
Can I install a 2728M iDRAC add-on card (physically, it appears it will go in fine) to a server that has an embedded iDRAC already? What happens if I install 2 IDRAC cards in one server?
thanks!

2728M is optional iDRAC Ports Card. It have iDRAC dedicated port and vFlash Slot. This card will not replace embedded iDRAC on the server

Ok. So that implies if a firmware update bricks the onboard iDRAC there is no way to recover the server outside of new motherboard.. ugh. I was hoping an $11 card could help here.

Thanks for the reply. I guess my question is, will the 2nd card takeover if the first can't be found (IDRAC not initialized, etc, messages on post)?

No. optional iDRAC Ports Card can not take over complete iDRAC functionality. It only enables 2 feature (Dedicated iDRAC port and vFlash) on top of existing iDRAC. embedded iDRAC should be functional for this iDRAC Ports Card to work.
