PCI Express Error Core-Mid Level Error on SR-IOV enabled R820

rpviewer-14.png

I'm getting a PCI Express Core-Mid Error consistently on three R820 that I'm trying to deploy in a hyperconverged NFV lab, I strongly think this is related to using SR-IOV based NIC passthrough for some VMs.

Installed in each machine are the following NICs:

1x Dell labeled Intel ET2 Quad Port 1 GbE Add-In NIC, DP/N: HM9JY

1x Dell labeled QLogic 57840S Quad Port 10 GbE rNDC NIC, DP/N: XGRFF

2x Mellanox ConnectX-3 VPI Dual Port 40 GbE Add-In NIC, P/N: MCX354A-FCBT

SR-IOV is enabled on the QLogic and Mellanox cards, the Intel card had problems with IOMMU group isolation when in SR-IOV mode, so instead I've passed the entire PF into a VyOS VM. Additionally, a VF from the other devices have also been passed into the VyOS VM.

Everything seems to be working ok within the operating system and I don''t see any obvious error messages there, I only see this error when I reboot the hypervisor. Within the iDRAC, the logs only appear to say an OEM event has occurred.

Hopperkin,

The issue may be due to the card you listed first (HM9JY) is not showing as supported on the server. It does appear that card # 2 and 3 are supported in the R820.
