PE 2850 EB10C - no memory

Hi Community,

we have an PowerEdge 2850 with 4x4GB PC3200 ECC RAM (RAM ordered at DELL). On the maschine works an VMware ESX 3.0 with latest vSphere Version.

Last night the maschine hung up. The ESX said: Your maschine has an hardware error. Please contact your hardware support.

On the LCD was the message: EB10C (ECC Error on DIMM)

So i restarted the maschine to watch out what was wrong.

But i only got an error beep 1-3-2 (means: No memory installed) and the POST didn't start . I connected to the iDRAC4 interface and saw that there was an ECC-Error on DIMM-2A.

So i thought the RAM was defect. I took the old original RAM-modules (only 4x1GB) and put them into the maschine. But on startup the same beep. I also tried only one module seperatly on DIMM-1A and DIMM-1B . No sucess.

Our support is out of time. So does anyone know this issue on an PE 2850 or an other maschine?

Thanks,

Peter

Thanks for your help.

I tried the minimum POST. I have tried again all the variants. With one original RAM on DIMM 1 A / B and one new 4GB modules. All HDD's were removed. The NVRAM was set to clear. But the error still persists.

On the DRAC4 module I can still access. But it doesn't give me any information about the current state of the machine.

I recently had problems with balloning on this ESX server. The error could not be resolved. I think the problem has become so announced.

I think the maschine has crached. It's about 5 years old. And i think it isn't profitable to buy a new motherboard.

So it's time to change through an new R710.
