PE R710 boots into bios everytime

Has anyone ever seen a new r710 that every time it is rebooted it boots into bios.  If I go through the iDRAC and select "once boot" with "no override", then the system boots right up to the O/S.  I thought maybe there was a bios issue, so I upgraded the version to 2.1.9, but it still boots into bios.

Any suggestions or solutions on why this might be happening would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds bizarre ... is it possible your F2 key on the keyboard is "stuck" or malfunctioning, causing it to go into the BIOS?

Havnt seen this, but try these two items. Go into the bios (that should be easy:emotion-4:) then note your hd controller settings, then do an Alt-F to reset all back to factory. confirm your hd settings. Then, if that doesnt fix it, reset the idrac to defaults as well. let us know if this works.

So, I reset the bios and the dRAC.  I even removed the dRAC card from the system.  Each time though it booted up into the bios setup.   I even unplugged the KVM and plugged a standard keyboard and mouse into the server and it still only would boot up into the bios setup.

My next attempt will be to replace the mother board.  That should definately fix my issue.

Just a thought-

Is the server restarting and entering the USC? If it is the Unified Server Configurator, and NOT the server BIOS, here is the resolution.

  1. Press when prompted during system start-up.

NOTE: You must press within 5 seconds of when the message displays.
  2.  In the menu, navigate to System Services.
  3. Select Cancel System Services.
  4.  Save your changes and exit the Firmware Setup menu. The system reboots automatically
