PE2300 - EtherExpress - Linux - Cannot Activate Network Device

I have justed installed RedHat Linux 9 on a PE2300. It has a Intel EtherExpress/100 Network card. The Network Device Control:Network Configuration shows the network card. When I try to activate it I get the message: Cannot Activate Network Device eth0:  Determining IP information for eth0 ... failed; No link present check cable. The cable is pluged in and I get a green light on the Hub. Under Network Adapter Configuration: Device = eth0, IRQ=unknown, and everything else is blank.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated

Have you installed the module for the network adapter?
What's the output from `lsmod`?

Check your configuration.

Toms RTBT can install, activate and use this NIC from a boot floppy.
