Power Edge 2800 NIC connection intermitten problem

Hi all,

I have PE2800 with 4 NICs with Windows 2003. But I used only one NIC connect to dell switch 3348 and other 3 NICs disabled. I received the message "No network connection. Network cable unpluged" and " Connected 100Mbps" on and off from network status at systray. I even changed "100Mbps Full Duplex"  for flow control at NIC but it doesn't help.

Is anyone please help? Thank you.

I have a similar problem with the a PE1500SC.  Looking at "Network Neighborhood | Properties", the nic doesn't appear.  Everything else seems fine until that happens.  Then DHCP, Symantec, and a host of other programs begin having connectivity problems.

I think it's a hardware glitch.  Any help from DELL?

Guys first and foremost do the basics, replace the cable. Change out the switch. Update drivers and firmware etc then come back with the results.

Ran through all the basics a long time ago. Cable is good, switch is good (neither of which, I believe, would keep the nic properties from appearing)  Did the shutdown, reset bios, update firmware, so on and so forth.  It shows up in the device manager, and is indicated as working properly.  But none of the properties can be viewed or changed.  If I ignore this, network activity slows down and vpn's eventually drop.

The problem has started to recur every 3-days now.  I don't get any indications in the event viewer until it has already failed.

Peculiar.
