Power-On Self-Test (POST) error on PowerEdge R7515

Hello everyone,

I am getting the following error on the DELL server PowerEdge R7515:

A high-severity issue has occurred at the Power-On Self-Test (POST) phase which has resulted in the system BIOS to abruptly stop functioning.

This error happens from time to time. It is random. After I reboot the server, it works fine. What should be my next step? I did not have any bios updates lately.

Kind regards,

Danko

Hello,

Random is a hard one to troubleshoot.

Is there anything in common when this issue occurs?

Are there any parts that were not on the original build?

Initially I can recommend to make sure the firmware is up to date and run the built in hardware diagnostics.

*Update firmware

PowerEdge: Update Firmware Via HTTPS Using iDRAC 7-8-9

https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000130533/dell-poweredge-how-to-update-the-firmware-via-https-connection-to-idrac

*Run hardware diagnostics
Boot to <F10> LifeCycle Controller and run the Diagnostics. Note any errors and continue testing.
