PowerEdge R300 CPU upgrade?
I have a PowerEdge R300 out at a colo running vmware and three VMs.
It's very stable, Two VMs are web servers and the third is the management VM.
We do see that the CPU gets a little overtaxed from time to time, even though we haven't over-assigned cores to the VMs.
The existing processor is a Xeon E5405. I am interested in maximizing performance for this server. Is there a list of validated processors for the PowerEdge R300? Is it limited to 54xx 1333 Xeons?

Hi,
The R300 supports up to the X5460. I am not finding a complete list, but it seems limited to 53xx and 54xx series.
