PowerEdge R420 - Configuring memory...

Question

Hi there, Upgrading my existing Power Edge R420 RAM from 32GB (4-DIMMS) to 64GB (8-DIMMS). Adding the 4 new sticks results in the iDRAC not Posting/proceeding past the Configuring Memory window as follows: What I've tested: 1. All DIMMs working (unseated old DIMMS and replacing new DIMMs in the slots occupied by old DIMMs A1, B1, A2, B2) - pass the Configuring Memory screen. 2. Test slots A3, B3, A4, B4, A5, B5 by adding 2 DIMMs in each paired slots (3 tests total of 48GB total RAM) - not pass the Configuring Memory screen. Kindly help to address. Regards, Basyir

Update.... All DIMMs now working after I did the following: 1. Change the first 4 DIMMs from A1, B1 to A3, B3 - passed Configuring Memory screen 2. Add 2 DIMMs to Slot A1, B1 (total 48GB) - passed Configuring Memory screen 3. Add another 2 DIMMs to slot A4, B4 (total 64GB) - passed Configuring Memory screen Now have all 64GB working. Thanks!
