R540 support maximum of 1024 entries in iDRAC System Event Log. All the logs in System Event Logs will be available in Lifecycle Log as well. Lifecycle log can hold many logs which can cover entire lifecycle of the server.
By default SEL log is circular. Once it reaches 1024 entries old entries will be deleted. You can also configure it for linear using racadm. i.e. once max logs are reached it will not delete old entries. Instead new entries will not be added until SEL logs are cleared.
