PowerEdge R610 Secure Copy Failure on Driver Update

Question

Brand new to me system, newly install OS.

Server 2012 Essentials

I downloaded the Dell OS Driver Pack, Version 14.10.00 for my server, and upon attempting to install it, after 5 minutes I get "Update Failre: secure copy failure - the sucure copy function has failed."

I tried running it a second time as administrator. Same problem.

Any ideas?

I think we need to face facts, the 14.10 update is screwed on all systems it has been released for, and nobody from Dell wants to admit it on this forum.

I can see 14.11 updates being released for some systems which I have successfully applied to them, e.g. R720xd and T420, so if you have a 12th Gen or 13th Gen server, check your driver download pages for any 14.11 updates, e.g. for R720xd it is here: www.dell.com/.../DriversDetails

For anything earlier, we are at Dells mercy until they release the 14.11 update.

Update - I logged a call for this and following some runarounds and claims that you cannot update the software from Windows only the lifecycle controller (despite it being a Windows based update package), the case was escalated to the software team who have replicated the failure in the lab, a new version to fix the update issue is targeted for release at the end of March 2015. 30th March was quoted but obviously this could be either side.

Of course it makes you wonder what quality control/testing there was in the first place for the update to be released broken for so many platforms.

Still hopefully we will be seeing the back of this problem in the next couple of weeks....

Hi,

Try updating the iDRAC and running the lifecycle controller repair package then run the OS driver pack again.

This is happening today on every system I try it on.

Same error on all of them. Runs for about 4-5 minutes then says

"Execution Status: Update Failure: Secure Copy Failure - The Secure copy function has failed"

As the error is being repeated on many systems, this would indicate the package itself is at fault rather than a local server iDRAC?

No problem just now with this one on a T420 T420_Drivers-for-OS-Deployment_Application_78TY6_WN64_14.11.02_A00 However the version is later. Looks like 14.10 is faulty?

I'm running into the exact same thing in a t610. I believe the 14.10 patch is bad too. Been fighting it for 2 days. Installing old ones and then reinstalling. Using windows .exe. Gone into the UEFI and updated via ftp. All failures. Everything else updated fine. Is driver pack is the only failure.

I've also had this happen on 3 R710s.  I've either gotten 'the secure copy function as failed' or 'creation of dynamic partition failed'.

I'm having the same issue on T310, T410, & T610. Towards the end of the update, I get prompted three times by Windows to 'scan and fix' the secure drive - not sure if that is part of the problem.

Having this problem today. Updated iDRAC, BIOS and LCC to the latest 1.98, 6.4.0 and 1.6.5.12 rebooted but still no luck. R610. Same failed

I agree. It might not be all systems but very many. What was the latest updates before 14.10 for 11G servers? I have a bunch of R610's about to go through update cycles.
