Poweredge R730 Memory configuration

Dell PowerEdge R730. System has two Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2687W v4 @ 3.00GHz processors and the following memory.

A1 16.00 GB
A2 32.00 GB
A3 32.00 GB
A4 32.00 GB
A5 16.00 GB
A6 16.00 GB
A7 16.00 GB
A8 16.00 GB
A9 16.00 GB
A10 16.00 GB
A11 16.00 GB
A12 16.00 GB
B1 32.00 GB
B2 32.00 GB
B3 32.00 GB
B4 32.00 GB
B5 16.00 GB
B6 16.00 GB
B7 16.00 GB
B8 16.00 GB
B9 16.00 GB
B10 16.00 GB
B11 16.00 GB
B12 16.00 GB


Is the 16GB module in A1 a valid configuration ? Would the module in be causing system issues ?

That would not be a supported configuration since the other dimms are larger. As seen on page 81 here, the larger dimms must be populated first.
You can also find the other memory population guidelines there as well.

Thanks for the link, I did not see that information in the version of the manual I had been looking at.
