PowerEdge T320 PCI-e Perc H310 Raid not finding drives
I wanted to upgrade to SAS drives from the installed SATA RAID. After searching Dell's website and other forums, it appeared that the H310 was a supported controller. I installed the controller and added two 600GB 15K SAS drives which I connected using the appropriate SAS cable. The controller is recognized during boot and in diagnostics. However the drives are not recognized during boot or in the CTRL-R option. I have used both BIOS and UEFI with the same result. Currently the two drives are connected to the SAS A port on the controller.
I reconnected the SATA drives and booted into Windows. The H310 is recognized as a device. However, any attempt to update the drivers or the firmware fails with a message indicating that the install is not supported in the current configuration. The Windows install is Server 2012 R2 which may be a factor there. However, the failure of the controller to find the connected drives is pre-OS.
Ideas?

Hello,
If you have alternate cables or SAS drives available, you can try to isolate the component causing the issue. However, if you have access to the iDRAC, or if you can log into the Lifecycle Controller, you are welcome to export a SupportAssist collection and PM it to me. If you check the box to include a RAID log, we may get some better information. If you go that route, please connect the SAS drives before running it, so that the report shows whatever it can about them.
If that isn't an option, you might confirm that OpenManage or the iDRAC are working. If the iDRAC isn't working correctly, you can see these sorts of issues with firmware. Generally, a power drain resolves them.
You may also want to test the PERC in an alternate PCI slot. the validated PCI slots are (in order) 6, 4, 3, 1.
Considering this appears to be affecting both drives, I'd be focusing on either the cables or card.

Thanks for the reply.
I've used two different cables so that seems like it points to the card.
I'll look at iDRAC as well as try a different slot. I'll update the post once I've had an opportunity to look at the server again.
