PowerEdge T320 Perc S110 Degraded RAID 1 Array
Dell T320, OS = 2012 R2 Just 2 drives in the server - NO hot swap.
Perc S110 Raid 1 is degraded. The event log calls out: Severity: critical, catogory: storage, message id: STOR2012, The physical Disk at 0:0:1 on controller 0 at connector 0 has failed.
Questions: 1). is Drive 0 or 1 bad? 2). How to replace the bad drive and I can't find a procedure for rebuilding the array and not lose the data. Has anyone here done this?

Hello
If your configuration is not hot-swap then you would need to shut down the server to swap the drive. A rebuild will not likely start automatically in your configuration. If the drive does not show up then perform a scan to detect the drive. Once the drive is detected you should be able to assign it as a hot spare to get it to rebuild. I think all of our S-series controllers retain hot spare status even after a drive becomes a member. You can unassign the drive as a hot spare once the rebuild starts. More information should be in the storage controller manual.

The Perc S110 storage manual is basicly worthless (also contradicts itself) as it does not have the procedure for rebuilding the drive. Of all the info it could have one would think the procedure for replacing a failed drive and rebuilding the array without data lost would be of importance. A guess won't work. Someone at Dell has to know how to do it. Ironicly the manual takes the same approach......."it's over there somewhere".
Please, Does anyone have experience with this controller: replacing a drive and rebuilding without data lost???
