PowerEdge T410 WILL NOT BOOT
the server will not boot. power button does nothing ,
there is a small black button on the rear of the chassis on the power supply. if i press and hold this button the power supply starts up and fan starts running. once i stop pressing down on the button it stops. not sure what this means.
can anyone help or tell me what is happening?

The black button on the Non-Redundant Power Supply is the power supply test switch, it is used to test the functionality of the power supply. You can read more on page 25 here. What I suggest you start with, is to take the server to a minimum to post configuration. That's removing everything from the server but the following;
Try powering the server under that configuration and let me know the results.
On a side note, if the server is attached to a UPS or APC, run the power direct to outlet to eliminate that as a cause.

done,
pressing the power button still does nothing.

Do you have another 410 that we can use know good parts from to test with? If so I would start with the Control Panel, to see if it is the power button itself.
