PowerEdge T430 Stuck on Configuring Memory
I've recently come into possession of a PowerEdge T430 and am having issues getting it running. It was previously used, but I'm not sure what exactly. Booting it up the first time it booted up fine, but about a minute into use, it restarted on its own and will not boot past the configuring memory. I attempted using a past form and moved the jumpers from the 3-5 to the 1-3, rebooted, and waited 5 minutes before setting them back to the 3-5 position to no avail. Looking at the ram it seems to have been upgraded to 8x Samsung 32gb 4drx4 pc4-2133p RAM. I am unsure as to what to do from here, any help?

Hi,
Unfortunately, I've not seen any one posted or manage to repair a memory. I don't think there is a way to revive it. Since the issue follows the memory, possibly it's the root cause of your issue.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Update: I found the solution was to take out all memory, dust them off, and reinsert all of them. I am unsure why this would have fixed it as all of the RAM was properly installed the first time. Now I have a different issue. When I boot it I get two error messages stating: UEFI0108: One or more memory errors have occurred on memory slot: A8, and UEFI0058: Uncorrectable Memory Error has occurred because a Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM) is not functioning. After swapping the memory stick in A8 with any others I get stuck in the Configuring Memory Issue. The memory in slot A8 has no apparent damage on it. Is there anything I can do or do I have to replace the A8 memory stick?

Also: and I'm sorry if this is the incorrect method of adding additional information to a post, I am new to this community, none of my 600GB Hard drives are being detected by the server. SATA ports A-H appear with unknown devices, though they should appear as the HDD's. Port J is working with the optical drive I have installed. How would I go about getting these drives recognized?

Hi,
It may seem to be a incompatibility issue with the server.
Can you provide more details on the memory that you have, is it a RDIMM? And the server only support up to dual rank memory. Here a reference on the memory:
https://dell.to/2ABLURI.
About the drives not detecting, could you provide more details about the drives too? Are they enterprise drives? Do they have Dell PN# on it?
If you're installing using third party drives, it may occur issues like not being able to be detected, as the drive do not have Dell firmware in them, and may cause such issues.
Let me know more about your system.

Hello,
All of the memory are Dell SNPMMRR9C/32G which are RDIMM's. All of the other ones installed work as well besides the ones its paired with only because it is with this one, so I don't think its an incompatibility issue. (Semi unrelated note: but would you know why when I shift this specific stick into any of the other ports I get stuck in the configuring memory loop? Not too important but I'm just curious)
Regarding the drives, all 8 of them are Dell AL14SEB060N, PN: HDEBF03DAA51. They have been installed with 2.5" to 3.5" hard drive tray caddy's for the PowerEdge T330 T430 T630 T610 or T710
Thank you very much once again.

Hi,
I tried to search through the database for the part numbers you gave me, but could get any results. Would you be able to provide me with pictures of the memory and hard drive you have.
Meanwhile, have you done the BIOS and firmware updates on the server? Also, you mentioned SATA port a-H shows unknown devices, is that from BIOS? Do you have iDRAC access or Lifecycle controller?

These are the memory modules and HDD's I'm using. I hope this helps:

I also recently realized I forgot to mention another error I am having. The system is failing to boot (I believe because it is not recognizing any drives) Here is a picture of the screen:
Regarding the other questions, I have not done any BIOS or firmware updates. I am unsure as to how to do this. The SATA ports show unknown devices from the BIOS. It is using a lifestyle controller.
Thank you again for your help. I sincerely appreciate it.

I would start with updating the server, which is fairly easy to do with the Platform Specific Bootable ISO for the T430, found here. As far as the booting issue, are you using a raid controller, if so what is the raid configuration that should be on the server?
Let me know what you see.

The updates have been installed, unfortunately to no avail. I am using raid controller level 10 on Virtual Disk 0 and level 0 on Virtual Disk 1.
Are there any other pictures I can send you to help diagnose the problem. I am trying to answer the questions the best I can, but I fear I am missing some critical information that may help diagnose and treat the issue.

Another note that I really should be putting together into one reply:
I believe the update is actually failing. A quick google search told me that the lifecycle controller has issues updating when it has not been updated in 7 years (go figure) I believe that this is the issue I am facing right now. This is the error that appears when I try to update using it:
I am unsure as to if this is because the lifecycle controller is out of date or if I am making a mistake in where I am trying to update the server. This is the version I am using:
I should also note that I am leaving the file path or update package path blank as it is the only file on the disk.
Thanks again

With it being that far out of date I would recommend walking the BIOS and iDrac up together gradually, only jumping a couple updates at a time (or any marked Urgent). remembering to update the BIOS, then iDrac, then BIOS, then iDrac, etc. You can find the older BIOS and iDrac updates at https://dell.to/2Ofvfa0 for the T430.
Let us know how it goes.

My only issue with that is that it is a dual-rank DIMM. It's also the exact same module as the other ones in it that are working so I don't think it is a compatibility issue. At least it's labeled that way unless the previous owner tampered with them, but I don't think they did.
Thank you

Sorry I misread something. So to clarify the issue as it sits now, the server is displaying an error on A8, when you swap that dimm with another matching dimm in the server hangs at configuring memory? Is that correct?
Have you tested all the dimms in small batches or individually?
Let me know.

This method worked! My drives are now being read properly. Now the only issue is my RAM module not being read. Any advice on how to get it to work?
Thank you
Also, sorry for the late response

Looking at the dimms and server specifications the issue looks to be compatibility. The T430 only shows to support single and dual rank dimms, as seen on page 116 here, so that is likely why the dimms are having issues being discovered.
