R210 won't boot from external dvd
I have a PE R210, without OS. To install the OS (SecurePlatform, a linux OS), I have to boot from dvd. The OS I want to install however has not the drivers for the SATA dvd.
Next step for me was to try with an external dvd. I plugged in a Samsung dvd on USB (Samsung SE-T084 Slot-in External Slim DVD-Writer), it gets power and lights up, but the server seems not to recognize it. I have tried the two usb ports on front, on back.
System Setup: I verified that Integrated devices: User Accessible USB Ports - All Ports On. But in Boot Settings I have no Hard-Disk Drive Sequence nor USB Flash Drive Emulation Type. In Boot Sequence only appear: DVD, C: disk and NIC.
What do I have to do to be able to boot from the external dvd?
Thanks for any ideas,
Sandra.

Yes, I have tested F11, does not appear. I will test next week with another external dvd, and if this does not work eventually test with bootable usb.
The R210 is really new from DELL, I hope the drivers are up to date (purchased in april).
regards,
Sandra.

I changed to another external dvd, and that worked without problem! It's an old lacie dvd writer.
Thanks for your help!

I forgot to say that the Samsung dvd I tested (a new one) is not working at all, so I'll have to return that.
