R630 performance issue with HBA 330
Hi Team,
We have 3 servers with the below specs. These 3 are acting as storage servers with CEPH.and presenting the storage to Hyper-v/ESXi via ISCSI
Problem->We are using enterprise SSD/HDD/NVME disks only, however, the disk copy speed varies.
Example--> Presented 500 GB storage to one Hyper-V VM and created 3 partitions(C,D & E).Whenever we copy a big file(ex 40 GB),from D to E or E to C etc.. the speed varies. First time,it copies with 900 MBPS speed,second time,it copies with 400 MBPS speed,third time,it copies with 100 MBPS speed.
Its not consistent and thats the problem. What may be the issue?
2 CPU with 14 cores each
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2690 v4 @ 2.60GHz
Integrated NIC 1: BRCM 10G/GbE 2+2P 57800 rNDC plus Mellanox 40 G NICS for storage replication
Dell HBA330 Mini (Embedded) FW 16.17.01.00
SSD disks.
Micron 5400 series
HDD
Ultrastor
NVME
Samsung PM983.
Thanks,
Raj

Hello Raj,
I'm sorry to see the copy speed is inconsistent. While we do not do performance tuning I can offer some suggestions.
Looks like the HBA330 is up to date. Is the rest of the firmware current?
Run the built in hardware diagnostics from the LifeCycle controller to check for any problems.
Check the System Event Log and LifeCycle Log in the DRAC for any issues reported.
Use our ISO, that has Dell validated drivers, when installing ESXi
Are the Drives Dell branded? Recommend using Dell branded parts with Dell validated firmware.
I'm not familiar with CEPH. Does it have a hardware compatibility list and does the hardware match up with it?
Please let me know if you see any errors or any failures running diagnostics.
