R710 BIOS/Firmware Update issue - "No Update Available" message when Updates are Available and Needed ?
Hello,
We are currently patching our R710s and have been using a custom SUU from the DRM with the web updates to do so. On one system it appears that the BIOS has been updated ( v6.1.0 ) but the other requried updates are not being recognized ? ie the 6/i RAID is 6.2.0-0013 not 6.3.1-0003, the iDRAC is v1.30.24 not v1.85 ...not current at all :o(
When we and perform the Platform Update we get the "No Update Available" msg even though the iDRAC, NIC, and the RAID updates are on the DVD.
The other strange thing is that the System Services ( BIOS v6.1.0 USC ) Options are not all there ( as compared to another R710 with the same BIOS ). The UEFI v2.1 is on screen and the options for "Lifecycle Log" and "Platform Restore" are not there ?
The same DVD/.ISO worked fine in another twenty or so servers that are already done... and in the ones we are still doing so I am pretty sure the disc/ISO is okay...

if this is only one system, the next step is to shut down gracefully, pull power from the system for 1 minute, plug it back in and then wait 1 minute, then power back on and try again. I'd say the LC is off in the weeds....

Hamboney,
It sounds like you may have an issue with the Lifecycle Controller. This is a link to the repair package for it. Run this and then see if the System Services are restored and the update proceeds.

Correct... except I never get to the list of items. At that point it says "No Updates Available" ?

We have tried to perform a Platform Rollback but this fails with "Return code mismatch for BIOSWrapper.efi - ( 0xb0000001) !"

As per the instructions:
"Install - 1.Double-click the new icon on the desktop labeled BDF_1.5.1_BIN-15_A01.usc.
The Self-Extractor window appears. "
The USC file extension association is unknown to the OS ? What software is required to extract ?

Ham, can you tell me what you did to create the disc, I will try to repro here as well.
I'm guessing:
r710 v410 bundle for Windows
export as SUU iso or directory
f10 into the LC, provide the disc (or network location)
LC scans the information, you get the message about the repository not being digitally signed
then it should list the items that can be updated and the devices you point out above are not listed?

Aight, then I would roll with the suggestion that Chris had above. The repair package has to be done via the idrac. In the idrac gui, on the left hand tree, select idrac settings, then in themain window, select Update tab, then browse to the file and upload and it should go from there.

Sorry the repair failed Hamboney,
Did you get a specific error when you ran it?
Try this, it is the most current update, but isn't the repair - www.dell.com/.../DriverFileFormats
Lets see if we can get that to run.

With the power-off, let sit, power on, let sit, and try again we seem to be making progress... 10% completed.

So with the power off cycle the Repair patch loaded.
Now when we try to load the Local Repository from CD the message "No volume available for local repository" appears :o(. Exiting out of the Platfiorm Update and trying it again seems to have gotten past this and I now see the list of updates !
I will start applying the updates now.
Thank you
