Hello

It sounds like the firmware update failed, and the card will likely need to be replaced.

system will then not boot unless I disable the nic card

Are you disabling the NIC in the BIOS to get it to boot to the OS? If so, you will need to replace the NIC/LOM.

The NIC is failing to initialize the firmware. If the NIC cannot come online then you cannot update or rollback the firmware. If the system is under warranty then contact support for a replacement.

Thanks

Hi,

The 5720 (BCM5720) is likely the onboard NICs.

What does Dell require then - swapping the MotherBoard?

Thanks

What I did to fix this is re-flash the machine from booting into the lifecycle controller and then mounting the SUU_14.10.200.123.iso

and going through the whole thing that way. This basically flashed the NICs again pre OS load.

Fixed it.
