Request for Knowledge Sharing Regarding PowerEdge R630 BIOS, iDRAC, and RAID Controller Firmware Updates
Hello,
We are currently operating two PowerEdge R630 servers and are planning to update the BIOS, iDRAC, and RAID Controller firmware on both systems.
The current firmware versions are as follows:
[PowerEdge R630 Server #1]
BIOS: 1.5.4
iDRAC: 2.50.50.50
RAID Controller: 25.3.0.0016
[PowerEdge R630 Server #2]
BIOS: 2.5.5
iDRAC: 2.60.60.60
RAID Controller(PERC 730): 25.5.5.0005
Our target firmware versions are:
BIOS: 2.11.0
iDRAC: 2.75.100.75
RAID Controller(PERC 730): 25.5.8.0001
Based on the Dell documentation and information we have reviewed, there do not appear to be any compatibility issues with upgrading to these versions.
However, before proceeding, we would appreciate hearing from anyone who has performed a similar upgrade in a production environment. Specifically, we would like to know if there are any known issues, unexpected behaviors, operational impacts, recommended precautions, or best practices regarding the upgrade process and firmware combination listed above.
Any shared experience or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Additionally, I have one more question.
Is there a recommended update order for iDRAC, PERC H730, and BIOS?

If youre searching the web most ppl do iDRAC, BIOS first and than the rest.
If youre looking how iDRAC or OME performcs an update its BIOS first followed by the rest and iDRAC comes at last. Reason for that is a chicken & egg problem because the iDRAC is needed for automatization and thats why they use it at last.
