Server R620 - power Consumption problem
Hi
Our R620 server show error about the consumption : The system board Consumption current is greater than the upper warning threshold
First I have checked to update bios and idrac. but at this level I have a doubt.
If I check with the service tag, I get a page with OEMR XL R620 that said me to use the BIOS V2.7.0 and idrac V2.50.50.50
But if I check not by the service tag but by the model R620, I get different version : BIOS V2.9.0 and idrac V2.65.65.65
What is the good version for the server ?
What is the difference between OMER XL and normal version
We bought this server no to Dell but by another dealder with their software on it
Regards

Hello,
OEM version servers are supported with customized firmware according to the needs of companies. Although they are the same hardware, they are individually customized servers, so please update the firmware in their catalogs that you reach with the service tag. Do not use standard firmware.
About your issue Can you check PSUs status on iDRAC? If the PSU reading amperage seems "0" probably there is a faulty PSU. You can check with a known good PSU and clear SEL logs for seeing issue continues or not. Please also do power drain as below:
1. Power the server down.
2. Disconnect server from all power cables, Network cables.
3. Hold down the power button continuously for at least 10 seconds.
4. Insert power cables and network cables back to the system.
5. Wait about 2 minutes before powering on the server to give the iDRAC time to initialize.
6. Power the system on.
Hope that helps!

Hi, Thanks for the detailed response. As I know R620 doesn't have a power distribution/interposer board. Mostly cases I remember it was a PSU issue most time but after swapping PSUs and there is 0A on every time on the same slot it could be the system board. You can check firmware updates and clear SEL log and check again. After BIOS update it might be fixed and I hope so it will.
