Setting up VLAN on T420

Hi,

My PE T420 has a single Ethernet controller (BroadCom BCM5720) with 2 ports. I need to setup VLANs to isolate one port from the other one.

I have some questions related to this need:

- Can I create such an isolation on a single controller (even if it has 2 ports), or do I need 2 controllers?

- In iDrac, those 2 Ethernet ports are marked as "Partition - Not Capable", what does this mean?

Thanks.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your answer. That's really helpful. Currently this server runs Xubuntu, but in a near future, it'll probably run ProxMox (VMs server).

It is going to be set in the OS. For Ubuntu and variants this should work. For Proxmox it may be different and would depend on how they have their OS set up.
