I am hoping to get some tips but i installed 4 dell brand Sas hdd. When the server is booting it shows all 4 Sas but when installing server 2012 r2 it only detect 2. And when i try to configurate the raid via ctrl r it does not show any of the disks
We would need some additional details to determine the cause.
Would you confirm some things for me? What is the part number for the drives, as well as their size? How/where is the backplane connected? What method are you using to install the OS? Lastly, have you updated the OS driver pack, if using the Lifecycle Controller for OS install?
I added an picture of the Sas disk that i use. Also i added an picture where it shows that the server detect all 4 disk. Plus the 2 visual disk i installed server 2012 R2. Is just the 2 other disk are not showing. I tried to remove the disk and place them back but the led is blinking an few times and then goes out.i dont know how to activate.
From your latest images, I can say the drive is supported, but the issue is that the interface you are showing appears to be a hardware controller. Would you confirm a couple other things?
Is the 6GB SAS from Dell?
Where is the backplane cable connected to?
Is raid enabled in the BIOS?
Have you reseated the connections for the drives, backplane, and cables?
I added photos of the inside of the system. I reconnect the cables and the other Sas is dell brand. I also tried the 300 gb in slot 3 and 4 and it works, but if i put the 3 tb in slot 1 and 2 it blinks for an minute than goes off.is like i need to configurate the disk. I am not sure please help
The drive looks to be cabled to a hardware controller, so that is why the S100 doesn't see it. You will need to get cable KNJKY, that connects the backplane to the board to use the S100.

You would replace the cable you have circled with part number KNJKY, and connect it to the motherboard.

Hello hortleth,
One end should go to the backplane and the other goes to the Controller not the system board.
