Upgrading dell power edge 600sc CPU
It currently has a 2.8ghz 533mhz fsb socket 478 pentium 4, however i want to upgrade the cpu.
I know i can get a cpu with a 3.06ghz into it, but can this work:
it is a mobile pentium but it has same fsb and same socket type?

Here is all the upgrade specs I could find ATM. That CPU on ebay wont fit up do to being over 512KB L2 Cache on a P4 CPU, and has to be 128KB L2 Cache on a Celeron CPU.

Some people tried and the motherboard rejected it, be careful dont want to blow a bunch of money. (I know that those old CPU's are like $10 bucks on ebay and some times they come with bugs).
NOTICE: Before you upgrade or replace a microprocessor, check the latest system BIOS information on the Dell Support website at support.dell.com, and upgrade the BIOS if necessary.The microprocessor and its associated cache memory are contained in a pin-grid array (PGA) package that is installed in a ZIF socket on the system board. The following subsection describes how to replace the microprocessor.

Keep in mind when updating this, that this system has a Broadcom Grand Champion HE chipset ... not having an Intel chipset, its compatibility will NOT be as broad or as flexible. You would be safer comparing the required specs from the manual/spec sheet:

While BIOS updates can add support for additional processors (speed, FSB, cache), it is unlikely that much effort would have gone into support for better processors on this low-end model.
