USB error messages on console (SC1435)

Hi, we've recently purchased a PowerEdge SC1435 and are working on getting it production ready before installing at at the data center. However, the same errors keep repeating themselves on the console. Periodically, there will be: hub 1-0:1.0: port 3 disabled by hub (EMI?), re-enabling And periodically there will be a batch of about 20 of these: drivers/usb/input/hid-core.c: input irq status -32 received Disabling the USB ports in BIOS makes the messages go away, but that's not an option for out production plans. This happens regardless of whether a device is plugged in or not. All USB ports are functional with a keyboard. Any ideas about this?

Hello, wow this is a pretty old model for me. Generally, USB over-current errors can be caused by dust, humidity, etc. You can try to detailed cleaning on ports and motherboard. Other than that, I'm thinking of making NVRAM_CLR. I couldn't find a figure to show where the jumpers are on motherboard. Usually, NVRAM_CLR is written next to it on the motherboard. Move the jumper over and then power the system, once you see power indicated the NVRAM should clear. Power back down and restore the jumper position

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply!

I will open it up and have a go with an air duster and see if things improve.

All the USB ports are operational but I have noticed it now has a fan failure as well maybe its time to retire the hardware.
