12gbps disk on 6gbps controller
Hi
I have a lot of 300/600gb SAS 15k disks in our servers
Some of them needs replacement but I'm unable to find some compatible disks even from third party vendors
Dell is selling 12gbps, can i safely use these on our controllers (mostly H700/H710) ?
Additionally can i use a 2,5'' disk, with 3,5'' adaptor, mixed with 3,5'' disks?
I'm unable to find 3,5'' 15k rpm easily

The provided part numbers are difficult to find in italy
Can i use the 400-AJRR that is for R530 on a R510? It's 12gbps but should be compatible even at 6gbps

400-AJRR is not listed as compatible for R510/R520 but teorically, it's SAS 15K 12Gbps so it should negotiate a 6Gbps speed with the older controller and thus still being compatible.
Is that right ? I'm able to find easily 400-AJRR disks, not the others.

Hello,
We bought 400-AJRC which is compatible with T310 according to Dell site:
https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-600gb-15k-rpm-sas-12gbps-25in-hot-plug-drive-35in-hybrid-carrier/apd/400-ajrc/storage-drives-media
An error appears under DellDiagnostic, respectively: 4400:111F (Buffer test: failed). The description of the error: “Target was read or write-protected”.
I upgraded Del diag to the last version available for the server (v. 5162 ) The BIOS is at last version (1.14.0). The firmware of the controller is the last version (07.03.06.00 A09). The HDD has the last FW version.
The same error for all 4 disks. Tested on PE R710 ->same error (R710 is also on the compatibility list for this model type - see above the link)
What is the possible reason ? An error DellDiag reporting or what ?
Thank You, Viorel G
