Adding a new disk to RAID5 array
I am going to add a new disk to my RADI5 array (PE4600),
My current array has 3x36Gb and i have 3 partitions.
My new disk is 36Gb too,
here is my question:
the new empty space will be at which partition?
or will be a new partition?
kind regards
Tolga

After adding an additional 36 GB drive to your H/W RAID array, it will show up as free unallocated space. You may be able to add this space to your second, non boot partition, or to create a new, third partition. I doubt that you'll be able to add the space to your boot partition unless W2003 is a LOT different than it's predecessors in this regard.

Well, I cannot recommend the partition magic, can cause problems with the Dell utility partition.
Hint: Do NOT delete the utility partition using partition magic, I saw a system that had that done once... it would always boot to the utility partition even with no keystrokes being pressed, and FDISK showed free space where the partition used to be. We ended up having to rebuild the system.

Mrfella71,
Sorry my N/W experience was 3.x thru 5.1. N/W used to have issues with expanding disk (volume) sizes after the fact. We had to lie to the O/S and tell it that the volume was larger than it really was so that when it came time to add the additional drives the O/S already "believed" that it had actual storage available. I would advise that if other customers do not provide an answer, (check the N/W O/S forum here), that you should perhaps call Dell tech support for the procedure.\
