Hi,

You "can" add the 73Gb drive to the existing array configuration, but only 18Gb will be available to the array. All segments in a Raid 5 array must be the same size, any extra space will be wasted.

Greetings --

I would like to preserve the current partitions and volumes. Are you saying; after adding the additional drive to the current RAID config, it will remain intact?

Thanks!

Hi,

Yes, you can add the drive without disturbing the current partitions and data. To the Operating System, there will then be free space at the end of the logical drive. Depending on your Operating System and configuration, you can either create a new partition or expand the existing partition.

Always have a validated backup or disaster recovery plan in place before attempting an operation of this kind.
