Adding disk to PowerEdge 2800.
I would like to add additional disk to my PowerEdge 2800. Do I have to purchase the additional disk from DELL? Can I use OEM disk from Maxtor or does DELL update Maxtor SCSI firmware? The specs for the Maxtor Atlas Ultra320 SCSI hard drives have a "80-pin SCA-2" interface connector. Can I use Maxtor Atlas Ultra320 SCSI hard drives that have a "80-pin SCA-1" connector?

The safest bet is to purchase the drives from Dell so you get the levels of drive firmware that are supported/tested on their hardware.
Using OEM drives may result in problems since the drive settings and firmware may not meet the requirements set for Dell provided drives. Something as simple as having drive level write caching enabled could result in data loss in a failure event.
