Best raid controller for R430

Hi,

I own two poweredge R430 servers with PERC H330 Mini and four SAS 10K Samsung drives (ST600MM0238).

Disk are configured in raid 10 and I'm very disappointed with performance of this setup - average read 280MB/s average write 250MB/s.
My old HP Proliant server DL380p with raid 10 and SAS 10k have - average reage 1200MB/s, average write 550MB/s

My question is what is the best (the fastest) raid controller for this Dell server that I can buy?

thanks for recommendation.

Hi,

The fastest RAID controller we support in this unit is the PERC H730P controller. I show this controller as featuring 2GB of cache, which should help significantly. The H330 has no cache. These controllers are built off of 2 different platforms, the LSI 3008 (H330) and the LSI 3108 (H730P). You can review more details here using the technical resources menu:

Zuku,

The highest level controller supported in the server is the H730P, part number 7H4CN, it is the version with the 2GB cache, as there is a 1GB cache version as well (part number KMCCD)

Let me know if this helps.

OK thanks, I just bought two PERC H730P, is there any manual how to change controller in R430 server, and my second question will my actual RAID10 will work with new controller, or I need to re-create RAID10 and install my windows server from scratch?
