Clearing HDD media errors
I have a PowerEdge 1600SC that recently lost all of its formatting when it lost a disk. I'm new to the organization so I don't know what, if any, level of RAID was set up but now I'm trying to reconfigure the system to RAID 5. I have 1 disk that has 0 media errors and 4 others that have varying degrees of errors. How can I - if it's possible - get the other disks to the point of 0 media errors so I can get them online and initiated as well. I've cleared the data from them but that hasn't helped thus far. I'm using the PERC/CERC BIOS configuration utility US 12 to manage the array with. Thank you very much for any help.

Run diagnostics on the disks. If they are bad, then there's nothing you can do, and they should just be thrown away.
32-bit Diagnostics (bootable):

Which RAID controller do you have?
