Configuration not allowed
Hello,
I have added (4) 3TB SAS drives to my T300 with a perc 6/i card. I am getting this error message when attempting to create my RAID. Any ideas?

PERC 6 supports up to 2TB physical disks. Disks may not be compatible either. What make/model are the drives?

In the main configuration utility window, under Controller 0- No Configuration Present ! I press enter here, then that message pops up.
In the PD Mgmt tab, it shows the 4 drives but says error in the "state" column.
Is there a controller that you would recommend to get these drives working, or should I send the drives back. I have been searching for details about this controller, but cant find anything that states what size drives this card supports.

Or the better question to ask, is there a list somewhere of compatible drives?

If not a Dell-certified version, there may be an incompatibility. At what point are you seeing the message? and exactly what does it say?
You still will not see the full 3TB.

There is not a comprehensive list of compatible drives for each system/controller. You just need a Dell co-branded enterprise drive (a Dell labeled WD Blue drive from a desktop is not acceptable, but a Dell SAS drive from a T410 will work in an R530, for example).
The H700 may play better with them, but it is not supported in the T300, and the generic drives are still not validated for the H700. A generic LSI controller whose HCL includes these drives would probably be your best bet ... while it will probably work find in a Dell server, there is no guarantee that non-validated hardware will work in the server.
The PERC 6 supports a maximum physical disk size of 2TB.

I have a T300 with a PERC 6ir is there a 3rd party raid controller that will work with this older server that will support drives larger than 2tb?
