Create new Virtual Disk during reconstruction

I had two RAID virtual disks on my PowerEdge R720. I added a couple drives to expand one of them, and used the "reconfigure" tool to add the two new disks. It went into reconstruction to add the new disks.

At the same time, I somehow managed to inadvertently destroy the other virtual drive I had. I'm trying to create a new one now, but I can't because I'm getting error messages every time I try. In the H710P BIOS Configuration Utility, it's saying "Virtual disk creation failed!" I'm assuming this has something to do with the ongoing reconstruction of the other VD? Can I not create a new VD while another is being reconstructed?

If that's the reason, is there any way to work around it? Can I somehow pause or cancel the reconstruction of the first VD so I can create a new one? If there is a way to cancel it, will that risk any data loss?

Hello

You can't have a reconfigure and a rebuild going at the same time. I don't think you can stop a reconfigure, and if you try it will likely lead to data loss. The system is actively  rebuilding the virtual disk, so if you stop the process it will be corrupted.

I recommend that you not do anything with the controller or any virtual disks until the reconfigure completes. If you interrupt the reconstruct it will create a bigger problem.

The OpenManage Server Administrator storage manual has additional information on reconfiguration tasks.
