Dell Servers Hard Drive Tray Caddy

Are Dell Servers Hard Drive Tray Caddys interchangable ?

Specifically:

Hard drive caddy where it's written SATA - will they report correctly when using SAS drives in them?

Hard drive caddy where it's written PCIE - will they report correctly when using SAS drives in them?

Thanks !

Hello thanks for choosing Dell. I have to say

depending on the server model you are using and the drive guide (tray).

Hi @RonyEco,

Usually caddies do not have any component communication with the backplane and will not have any effect in the system. It only has external visual identification impact.

Acknowledged, but will they both physically indicate red light for malfaunctioning SAS disks ?

I agree with Joey so I wouldn't think it would be a problem.
