Driver problem for PERC 5E

Hiya,

I have a Dell PERC 5E card installed in a PE860 but i can not find the driver for the Raid card.

i have tried most of the driver available for the card from the website, but they do not work.

the details are as follows;

DELL XM768 RF480 PERC 5E SAS SCSI RAID CONTROLLER

P/N: XM768

Hi Anj.Latif,

Lets start off by looking at your F/W. Update packages for the PERC SAS 5E are here  .

After updating the controller F/W try this driver (assuming w2K3 O/S) here  .

What error messages appear, or what happens when you try to install the driver?

Regards,
warwizard

i have tired to look at the firmware. but the application to upgrade the firmware reports that no hardware is supported.

and i have tried to install the driver and i am getting the same response.

You first need to determine if the operating system sees the card by going into device manager..... start ---settings--- control panel ------ system---- device manager ..... do you see the perc5/e in the list ... should be under scsi/raid controllers .... if not i would reseat the riser first ... then try the card in the other slot ..... you may have a bad card ......

i have change the the slot the card was installed on, also in device manager it shows up as unknown scsi device, but no driver i have found on the dell website works.

when i installed the OS (win 2003) i used the server assist insatllation cd, which did detect the 'Dell SAS card' i thought that it would install the drivers on to the server, but it did not. the sticker on the card shows firmare A01.

it may be a faulty card, or it may be that it may a bit old and thedrivers are not available?

The update package for the driver may not see the card if it has never been installed (and/or the install was done straight from windows medai w/o the DSA cd)

the update package can be expanded into a folder (or select the hard drive download) and you can do an update driver from device manager ..

i have updated the server bios, to see if that will help much. it did not!

but i did find the card in the bios, but it states it as a LSI raid card, so i am thinking that the drivers might be available from LSI?
