dynamic spanned volume - replace disk - openmanage

I have a dynamic spanned volume (non-fault tolerant) with 4 disks. I went to add a 5th disk. I did not format the disk first. When I choose to extend my volume and selected the unformatted disk everything seemed to work just fine but there was no additional space available on the volume. I assumed that it was because the drive was not formatted. I could not find an option to format the drive while it was part of the spanned volume. I rebooted and formatted the disk with the bios scsi utilities. When windows started up it saw the newly formatted drive as a new drive and thinks that the other drive (the same drive unformattted) is missing. This takes the volume offline since one of its spanned volumes is missing. Since there was never any data added to the drive the integrity of the volume should still be intact with or without the added drive. I would like to retrieve the volume. Can I either tell openmanage to ignore the missing disk or can I change the disk signature of the newly formatted disk to that of the previous state of unformatted so that openmanage can find a disk that it is looking for? If so, how can I find the signature that openmanage is looking for? I can set the newly formatted drive to the desired configuration/signature so it gets what it wants.

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
