Expanding Virtual Disk Issue
I have a Dell R620 with the H710 Mini PERC. I had 4 drives associated with one virtual disk. I added 4 more disks, which show online. I added the physical disk to the virtual disk and it shows such in OpenManage. However, I cannot expand the virtual disk to utilize the additional storage. When I use OpenManage to try and Reconfigure the virtual disk, it gives me an error that it can't be reconfigured.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Jack

What do you mean you "added the physical disk to the virtual disk"?!
If you have a RAID 10, you cannot Reconfigure/Expand it.

Thanks for the reply. It does look like there is a firmware update available, I will apply that tonight. It RAID-0 and the disks I added were the exact same as the ones already in it (Dell 300GB SAS 6GB 15K). There was 4, I added 4 more.

You are running 4 disks in a RAID 0?! If I were you, I'd use your 4 new disks to change that to a RAID 5 or 6!
If you go to the Storage, PERC, Enclosure/Backplane, Physical Disks screen, are each of the disks recognized and what is their status?

Under storage PERC there is no Enclosure/Backplane, but if I go to Storage, PERC, Virtual Disks it shows 8 Physical Disks all online.

It can't show all 8 as Online ... some must say either Ready or Foreign, unless you have already created an array with those disks (or imported a foreign configuration).

I appreciate all your help, apparently it just took some time for the new space to show up on the disk management screen. I checked and the additional unallocated space finally showed up. I expanded the drive and all is good. Thanks again! -Jack
