Foreign configuration is empty
Hello all,
We have 2 Poweredge T710 servers (PERC H700 intergrated) with 16 disks each. Now one T710 is faulty and so we want to transfer the disks from the one which is faulty to the working one, so that we can back up the data. The problem is that when we put in the disks they show as foreign, BUT the foreign configuration tab shows as empty, so we cannot import the config from the disks. Initially we have imported foreign config and everything was ok, and after reboot suddenly the virtual disk was gone and the raid showed as foreign again (and now the foreign config tab shows no config as described!)
I have read people suggest retagging, but I am not sure I am 'BRAVE' enough to do that as I would like to make sure that raid configuration (it was RAID 10 for sure, just not sure about the order of disks on the raid) is the same as I remember.
Are there any tools to try and find what is the raid config on the disks maybe?
Side note: on the working Poweredge we had other disks with another raid 10 configuration if we put them back they all load just fine as before , so I am not sure it is a problem with the PERC H700

Can you check whether you are getting Foreign Config import and clear option under Virtual Disk. You can refer "Importing or Clearing Foreign Configurations Using the VD Mgmt Menu" section on page 92 of below link for more details

Yes getting both
Reminder: there is data that we don't want to lose on the disks
