Hard disk question DELL T310
Hello,
I have Dell poweredge T310 server. I have 2 HDD 500GB that configured as a RAID 1. My question is i can't see another drive in my computer i saw only C drive. Another thing if i need to install 3rd 500GB drive without any RAID how i can installed and configured in Dell Poweredge T310 server.
Please help me i appreciate your help.

I would start by looking up RAID on Wikipedia. RAID stands for Redundant Array of Independent Disks - an array of disks working together to form a single chunk of storage affording a redundancy such that if a disk fails, the data will still be accessible.
The beauty of RAID is that its redundancy (mirroring, etc.) is transparent to the OS, so in a RAID 1 with two 500GB drives will present the operating system with a single 500GB chunk of storage. The only way you can see the individual disks is to install an application specifically capable of interfacing with the driver ... on Dell servers, this software is OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA).
If you have a PERC RAID controller, all disks must be in a RAID configuration in order to be available to the OS. The only RAID configuration that can be implemented with a single disk is a RAID 0. You can set up a single-disk RAID 0 in the CTRL-R utility during POST or using OMSA from within Windows.

Thank you for your information. The server has a SAS6iR card w/ RAID 1 configuration and 2 Hard drive bays empty. As my understanding, 4 hard drives will be supported by the server. Currently Drive 0 and 1 have 500 Gs (7200rpm and 3Gbps) and plan the 2 of 2T hot-swap drives (7200 rpm and 3Gbps) will be added in the empty bays.
If I add the 2 new drives,
1. the new added drives don't bother or clean the current drives (RAID 1, drive 0 and 1)?
2. should I reconfigure RAID 1 for the new Drive 2 and 3 if not automatically configured?
Please tell me how to configure the RAID1 for new adding hard drives if not automatically configured?
