inactive/missing raid volume
Hi all,
My R310 server with a total of 4hdd had problem detecting 2 of the hdd within the server. The other 2x working hdd are running raid1 and this the drive where windows OS is installed. This server is using SAS 6/ir raid controller and was working fine until I did a proper shutdown of this server and relocated it to a different U within the same rack and upon boot up i got a "volume is currently in state INACTIVE/MISSING". I press ctrl C to get into SAS configuration utility, was given an option to activate the array but no array was activated. 1 hdd remain as inactive raid volume while the other hdd's size and model could be reflected in SAS configuration utility but was not part of the array. Is there anyway i can recover my data or somehow activate back my hdd? I am not sure what was the raid configuration to the 2 problematic hdd prior to the problem. Suspect it could be raid 0. Is there any advise? TIA!

Hi Robert,
Thank you for prompt response. I have already tried to activate the array using the sequence "Raid properties->manage array->Activate array". There is no "view existing array" and "inactive array".
After i tried to activate the array it says array is already activated. But when i look go back to the SAS controller menu i still see inactive raid volume. Pls advise.

Hi Robert,
But it was working fine before my proper shutdown, of the server, does that mean i should update my server firmware?
Any other solution other than updating the firmware?

Hi Robert,
Rescanning using disk management doesn't help and unable to initialize the disk.
Are you able to provide the link for me to download the updated copy of the firmware?
