Is Raid Array Installed Correctly?

I have just purchased a Poweredge 1800 with a Raid 5 configuration and with 4 x 160 SATA drives and a CERC 6 controller. I finished installing using Dell Server Assistant. The Assistant said it configured the Raid Array. I then installed Windows SBS 2003.  I checked Disk Management but all I see is my C drive with a 12GB partition. Where do I find the RAID?

Mike,

The hardware raid is not directly visible in the OS.  The array controller will present the hardware raid to the os as a single large drive.  The installation CD created a standard 12GB C: partition.  If you go into disk manager you should see a large amount of unused space still available.  Simply create a new partition and format it.

Mike, I was on the same exact boat. Glad you were able to get it working.

I just posted a new message, because I am using a RAID 1 and am not sure what exactly should be displayed.

Can you do me a favor and give me a list of what you see listed on your Hard Disk Drives.

like:
Local disk (C:) --- 12GB, and..

thanks

What I saw was a C drive with 12gb allocated and the rest unallocated . when I first looked at the Storage display I didn't move the elevator bar in the window down to see the detail that show ed the unallocated. After I was able to see it, I right clicked on the unallocated and partioned and formatted. After that I installed Dell open manage and I was able to see all 4 Raid 5 drives.
